Psalm 25: Remember Your Mercy, Lord - P. Inwood
ELH 275: 1, 2
Solo: We bless Thee, Jesus Christ our Lord; Forever be Thy name adored:
For Thou, the sinless One, hast died, That sinners might be justified.
All: O very Man and very God, Who hast redeemed us with Thy blood;
From death eternal set us free, And make us one with God in Thee.
Solo:
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
Hear your people's prayer as they call to you:
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
All:
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
Hear your people's prayer as they call to you:
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
Lord, make me know Your ways. Lord, teach me Your paths.
Make me walk in Your truth, and teach me: for You are God my Savior.
All:
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
Hear your people's prayer as they call to you:
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
Remember Your mercy, Lord, and the love You have shown from of old.
Do not remember the sins of my youth. In Your love remember me,
Because of Your goodness, O Lord.
All:
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
Hear your people's prayer as they call to you:
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
The Lord is good and upright. He shows the path to all who stray,
He guides the humble in the right path; He teaches His way to the poor.
All:
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
Hear your people's prayer as they call to you:
Remember, remember your mercy, Lord.
All: ELH 275:3,4
From sin and shame defend us still,
And work in us Thy steadfast will,
The cross with patience to sustain,
And bravely bear its utmost pain.
In Thee we trust, in Thee alone;
For Thou forsakest not Thine own;
To all the meek Thy strength is giv'n,
Who by Thy cross ascend to heav'n.
Prayer (in unison)
All: O my crucified Lord Jesus Christ! As the patient Lamb of God You suffered for me the most shameful death on the cross and with Your precious blood You redeemed me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil.
I pray You to give me the assurance of this redemption through Your Word and Sacraments, and to direct my heart by Your Holy Spirit. Preserve me with Your divine love, and hide me this day, both body and soul, in Your holy wounds.
Wash me from all my sins, teach me to live a life of good works, and at the end lead me from this world of sorrow to Your eternal joy and glory. Hear me, my faithful Savior, my only Comfort, Hope and Life, my Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. (ELH p. 167)
Psalm 22: My God, My God
All: (Tune: ELH 452)
Hope waits for the accepted hour Till God give joy for mourning;
When He displays His healing pow'r, Thy sighs to songs are turning.
Thy needs are known unto thy Lord, And He is faithful to His Word,
This is our hope's foundation.
Though it may seem He hears thee not, Count not thyself forsaken;
Thy wants are ne'er by Him forgot, Let this thy hope awaken;
His word is sure, here is thy stay, Though doubts may plague thee on thy way,
Let not thy faith be shaken.
Solo: My God, my God, why have You abandoned me?
All: My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?
Solo: All who see me laugh at me. They shake their heads,
"He trusted in God, let God deliver Him, if God loves him."
All: My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?
Solo: Closely, now they press me 'round and pierce me through,
"He trusted in God, let God deliver Him, if God loves him."
All: My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?
Solo: All is taken, all is lost. Be near, my help. Come near, my help.
I trusted in God, may God deliver me. O deliver me, as you love me.
I long to stand in the midst of Your people, and sing Your name.
Give God your laud, cry out your praises, and hold fast to the Lord.
All: My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?
All: As Christ hath full atonement made And brought to us salvation,
So may each Christian now be glad And build on this foundation;
Thy grace alone, dear Lord, I plead, Thy death is now my life indeed,
For Thou hast paid my ransom.
