- Prelude
- Isaiah 53 responsory
P: Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; C: Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. P: But He was wounded for our transgressions, C: He was bruised for our iniquities; P: The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, C: And by His stripes we are healed. P: All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; C: And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. - Hymn 302 - The Tree of Life With Ev'ry Good View
vv. 1 & 2 - Reading: 1 John 1:8-2:2 View
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. - Devotion
